No Hope For The Kids

No Hope from the Kids are a fantastic punk band from Denmark. Unfortunately, it's one of the reasons not many people have heard them. That's not to say that people haven't heard of the band itself, it's just that their records haven't been too easy to come by here in the states. In fact, for a band with one LP and few singles under their belt, NHFTK have built a pretty solid reputation for themselves. Although their records might have been difficult to track down, it's pretty much a guarantee that anyone lucky enough to hear their stuff gets hooked from the first listen.

Dark vocal harmonies float above tight, hard-hitting rhythms while the layered, octave-happy guitars create even more melody before cutting like swords. That's the best description I can give without out likening No Hope to other bands. If I was hard pressed to do so, I'd site the following: Late 70's / Early 80's Southern California Punk Rock shit like Adolescents and Agent Orange mixed with good UK82 bands like Chron Gen and the Defects and Troops of Tomorrow era Exploited (yes I'm aware they coined the term UK82).

Another factor in the bands mystique is the fact that there really isn't too much info available on the band. The band has no website and a google search doesn't really turn up much either. In fact, I could probably pull up more info on some defunct 80's Japanese band that only released a demo tape than I could on these guys.

A few years back, my friend Marco set up the Vegas show of their brief West Coast stint and to help promote he ordered 6 or so CDs from Europe and gave them to key people so they'd play/burn them for other people to generate hype. Fuck, that's how I heard the band! And before the internet came in to play.. that's how everyone heard bands; through word of mouth
